The Church of Ireland Cathedral Choirs of Kilkenny, Waterford and Limerick will be singing together in concert this Saturday, May 28th at 5PM as part of Limerick Pipe Organ Festival 2016 and St. Mary’s Cathedral’s History and Heritage Weekend. The concert will include Schubert’s Mass in G and Parry’s ‘I was glad’. Tickets available at the door: €10/€8 Concessions.

 

St. Mary’s Cathedral’s History and Heritage Weekend

To commemorate St. Mary’s Cathedral’s rich cultural and historical heritage, the Cathedral community is proud to be hosting its first History and Heritage weekend Festival on May 28th and 29th. Set against the backdrop of one of the oldest buildings in Limerick City, the festival will showcase to visitors St. Mary’s Cathedral’s rich and diverse history and heritage. David Simon will be giving a lunchtime recital at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 1:15PM this Wednesday, 18th May. Admission free.

David currently studies at Yale University with Professor Thomas Murray in pursuit of a Master of Music degree in organ performance. He is currently Director of Music of the Berkeley Divinity School and Organist for the Episcopal Church at Yale. This recital is part of a tour of Europe which includes solo recitals at the Cathedrals of Wells, Coventry, and St. Mary’s, Limerick, and accompaniment of the Yale Schola Cantorum at concerts in Estonia, Latvia, and Russia.
